When three young entrepreneurial New Zealanders returned from their OE they saw the opportunity for a specialist telecommunications provider that catered for medium businesses. With the help of Telecom Wholesale, Digital Island has built a client base in the thousands since beginning operations in February 2004.

Blair Stewart, Stuart Cowdell and Glen Larsen founded Digital Island after experiencing a growing trend in the UK for new telecommunications entrants to provide customised packages of telecommunications services.
Digital Island started working with Telecom Wholesale to provide overseas, national and conference calling and has now expanded that to include business fixed lines and Internet access.
"Essentially if you are a medium business you may not have the time or experience to select the best option for your needs or find the best price. We do all that for our customers and provide them a single, easy-to-understand account," says Commercial Manager Stuart Cowdell.
"Part of our strategy has been the development of a billing system which can be adapted for each customer, not only giving them an accurate account but also transparency into how their costs are made up.
"With that information they can make informed decisions about what their company needs and keep a firm grip on their costs."
Digital Island is managing the supply of services to their customers through Telecom Wholesale's online ordering and tracking system (OO&T).
"With OO&T we are at the heart of the provisioning process so we can order and keep track of what's being delivered where and when," says Stuart.
"We can ensure accurate information is being put into OO&T by our team as well as provide our customers with timelines for service delivery."
